Book Review: She's Still There by Chrystal Evans Hurst

As I started reading this book, I laughed, I cried, I sat and stared into the ceiling... I saw myself over and over and over again throughout the pages. When Chrystal says she's talking to you, she's telling the truth. The book speaks to the reality of who I am and as I near the empty nest season of life, I am assured that I can find the girl in me who has been so many things to so many people and rescue her so I don't get lost on my journey back. I've learned to be careful of what I say about myself. Remembering that my "drifts, decisions, and collisions don't define" me and so much more! So if you seem to have lost your way as you wind your way through different seasons of life, grab hold of this book, get ready for the ride of lifetime, and put on your cape to become your own superhero and rescue the girl in you!

On a scale from 1-10, I rate this book as follows:
 • Readability - 10
 • Challenge - 10
 • Encouragement/Inspiration - 10
 • Godly Wisdom - 10

I highly recommend this book for any woman looking for encouragement, self evaluation, and self improvement.

Book Review: FACTS Uncensored

A few years ago, my husband and I had the pleasure of meeting Dante and Renetta Wesley. We were invited to participate in a weekend of events, including a golf tournament, football camp, and afterparty at their home by one of my husband's business associates in exchange for our assistance with marketing and promotions. I've never been enamored much with celebrities. However, there was something about this couple that peaked my interest more than any other celebrities I've met over the years. For all that they have, they were so very down to earth and humble. We visited their home after another event a few weeks later and, eventually, Dante became a part of my husband’s sports talk radio show. They always made us feel at home. I didn't understand what it was about them that drew me in until I read their book, FACTS Uncensored.

Why I Don't Remember...

My husband and I had a discussion while we on the road the other day. We have DEEP discussions, especially on long drives. I love it! Not sure how we got on the subject, but somehow we began to discuss things we've done in the past that might have been hurtful to each other. Whenever we have discussions like this, I find that I just can't seem to remember EVERYTHING my husband has done to disappoint or hurt me. Don't get me wrong, I can remember major hurts and disappointments, but the little things, I just can't seem to recall them on the spot and I really don't care to.

Everyday is Valentine's Day

This post is going to be short and sweet!  While, it's great to have a special holiday set aside to show the person you love how special they are and how much you care, I think everyday should be like Valentine's Day. What's wrong with showing people you love how special they are and how much you care with acts and/or tokens of kindness everyday? Nothing!

This week was designated as random acts of kindness week. We showed acts of kindness to each other but also to others through kind words and small tokens of appreciation. It was a great week and I'm inspired to do it more often!

If you ever desire to show kindness to others but just don't know how, here are some of my favorite places for ideas!

101 Random Acts of Kindness
26 Random Acts of Kindness
366 Days of Kindness

Hope you have a Happy Valentine's Day by doing random acts of kindness for the people you care about!
