Self-Care Day 10: Resting in God’s Peace

Today is another snow day, and as I work remotely, I am reminded of the beauty of rest and renewal. On Day 10 of my self-care journey and in the continuance of our church’s solemn assembly, I focus on God’s peace and His ability to refresh my spirit.

I’m encouraged by Philippians 4:6-7 (NASB):

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and pleading with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”

As I step into a super hot shower later, I will use that time to pray for peace—peace in my heart, peace in my home, and peace in every area of my life. The warmth of the water will remind me of God’s comforting presence, washing away any anxiety or stress.

Afterward, I’ll enjoy a healthy green salad, a symbol of how God nourishes me, both physically and spiritually. Just as the greens replenish my body, prayer and His Word replenish my soul.

I affirm these truths today:

God’s peace is available to me no matter the storms or uncertainties of life.

Prayer is my pathway to peace and strength, a lifeline to the One who holds all things together.

Caring for my body and soul honors the Lord and reminds me of His care for me.

Lord, thank You for Your peace that surpasses all understanding. As I pray, remind me that I can cast all my burdens on You. May this day of quiet and renewal bring me closer to You and strengthen me for what lies ahead.

“Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”Matthew 11:28 (NASB)

Amen.
