Book Review: Wife After God | A 30-Day Marriage Devotional for Wives

What a privilege. What an absolute honor. Most of all, what a blessing it has been to read and now provide a review of the book, Wife After God.

My husband and I read a devotional together everyday. However, it was refreshing to have a devotional just for me to focus specifically on what it means to be a wife after God. From beginning to end, I truly enjoyed this devotional because it not only provided a focus verse, direct message, and supporting experiences from the author, but also a challenge and journal questions which allowed me to dig deeper, comprehend what was read, and apply God's word to my daily life and activities as a wife. Each day also includes a prayer covering the topic of the day.

The fact of the matter is, we cannot win over our husbands by nagging them, being quarrelsome, (Proverbs 21:19) or a "clanging cymbal". The bible clearly tells us that it is our gentle and meek spirit and our actions which will cause our husbands to pause and take notice. It is our inner beauty that is precious to our Lord and Savior (1 Peter 3:4) and if we want to be closer to our husbands, we must get closer to the Lord.

If I were to give this book a rating on a scale from 1-10, it would be as follows:
  • Readability - 10
  • Challenge - 10
  • Encouragement/Inspiration - 10
  • Godly Wisdom - 10

My favorite chapter was the final chapter - a love letter to my husband.

One word.

Powerful.

Being the social media nut that I am, I was excited that the book also provided prepared "Tweets" to share posts via various outlets for other wives as well. As a matter of fact, I created an entire board on Pinterest to support the efforts for promoting this book to wives pursuing their purpose and goal to be a wife after God. It was really a fun way to connect with others.

I highly recommend this book for any wife or wife to be who wants to prioritize intimacy with the Lord in their life and marriage.
