Today, on Day 8 of my self-care journey and the second day of our church’s solemn assembly, I am reminded that true nourishment comes not just from food but from the living Word of God. As I reflect on Matthew 4:4 (NASB), I find strength in Jesus’ words:
“It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes out of the mouth of God.’”
This verse speaks to the reality that my spiritual sustenance is just as vital—if not more so—than my physical nourishment. While I enjoy simple carrot sticks as a healthy snack, I also pause to feast on God’s Word, letting it fill the deepest parts of my soul with hope, guidance, and truth.
I affirm these truths today:
• God’s Word is my ultimate source of wisdom, comfort, and strength.
• Just as I care for my body with nourishing foods, I will nourish my soul with Scripture.
• When I feel empty or weak, I can rely on God to fill me with His presence.
Lord, thank You for Your Word that sustains me. Help me to hunger for You more than anything else and to find satisfaction in Your truth. As I reflect on Matthew 4:4, remind me to seek You first in all I do. Teach me to rely on Your Word for guidance, strength, and peace in every moment of this journey.
“Your words were found and I ate them, and Your words became a joy to me and the delight of my heart; for I have been called by Your name, Lord God of armies.” — Jeremiah 15:16 (NASB)
Amen.
