Book Review: A New Beginning | Blended Blessings (Authors: Michelle Stimpson, CaSandra McLaughlin)

I haven't read a fiction book in ages! This is a good book to reintroduce me to fiction. It was a great read and worth the purchase.  I couldn't put it down and before I knew it, I was finished!  I was intrigued that the authors took the time to pay attention to intimate details about each character. They were careful to include a background and setting which allowed for realistic visualization of the whereabouts of the characters at all times.  Additionally, I was excited in how the word of God was intertwined throughout the book to counter the challenges faced by the characters.  Many of the difficulties they faced as a blended famiy - father, stepfather, mother, stepmother, children, and in-laws, are true to life. 

I laughed, I cried, I yelled, and shouted at various times. Most surprising was the inclusion of thought provoking questions and a preview of the next part of the series! 

If I were to give this book a rating on a scale from 1-10, it would be as follows:

• Readability - 10
• Challenge - 10
• Encouragement/Inspiration - 10
• Godly Wisdom - 10

My favorite chapter was the final chapter. Without giving it away, as a mother and "bonus" mother, I felt exactly how the lead character felt when my husband and I stood together hand in hand to worship the Lord together and give our marriage and family over to Him. We're not perfect and we still have some things to overcome. But surrendering has changed our way of life, our way of thinking, how we handle certain situations, and how we view each other - through the Lord's lenses and not our own.
